What up what up what up. I was in a really cranky mood this morning because I legitimately got MAYBE three hours of sleep last night for whatever reason. I could not fall asleep/get comfortable etc and was literally up the entire night. Does that ever happen to you? My eyes are currently stinging and I plan on taking tons of melatonin before bed. Maybe not tons but you catch my drift. At least the Kardashians are on tonight as well as the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. All of those people baffle me and take my mind off of anything and everything. I was also really disappointed because I could not get my butt to the gym this morning since I hardly slept at all. I guess it happens. Gotta move on!
Anyway onto more cheerful things! This past weekend I spent time with one of my best friends from college — Eva! Eva and I met during our two years at the Fashion Institute of Technology and she has been one of my greatest friends ever since. It was so nice to visit her in New Jersey and get out of the city for a couple of days.
On Friday we met up with her sister, Brigitte for some drinks and nacho’s. I love you, nacho’s. I didn’t over-do it, but definitely satisfied the craving.
Saturday brought an amazing workout (Eva is still complaining about how sore she is — what a baby!) followed by lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen (CPK). Thinking about CPK always makes me laugh because when I lived in Los Angeles, my sister Gillian used to love visiting me simply to go to CPK. I think she thought that CPK was ONLY in Los Angeles when there was probably one about thirty minutes from our home in New York. I digress. Eva and I decided to split the hummus with whole wheat honey pita bread and it was amazeballs. The hummus tasted incredibly home made and I could have probably finished the entire dish by myself.
We each also decided to have a half of a salad after dominating the hummus — Eva went for the Field Greens which included craisins and walnuts and I went for the Roasted Vegetable. The Roasted Vegetable Salad included avocado, pepper, artichoke, and sun dried tomatoes amongst other yummy things.
After running more errands (aka buying shoes) we went home and got ready for a fun night out.
At the end of the night, Eva’s friend Joe insisted we stop at this grilled cheese place for some late night ‘snacks’ or meals. While I opted out from ordering my own grilled cheese, I had a couple bites of both Joe’s and Eva’s and I have to say, these types of things make me wish that I was naturally skinny. The grilled cheese was out of this world — buttery, crunchy, perfection. Maybe in another lifetime I can eat grilled cheese every day and maintain a reasonable figure. I’m dreaming here!
Before leaving on Sunday, Eva’s mom made us a breakfast I never have — french toast! Even though this is a decadent breakfast for me, the dish was actually pretty light and the berries were a really nice addition.
Question of the Night: What is your most favorite food to indulge in? I’d say that lately mine has anything to do with CHEESE!

Mmmm grilled cheese sounds incredibly tasty right now! I think my favorite thing to indulge in is dessert…I have a huge sweet tooth haha….and that salad from CPK looks soooo good! As does the hummus…I love fresh hummus! Awesome looking weekend love! Fingers crossed you get a good night’s sleep tonight

I want all of those things right now.
We love CPK! We eat there at least 3 times a month.
If I had a CPK closer I would probably eat there a lot more often, too!
There are no CPK’s around here – I used to eat there all the time in Annapolis. The soup is AMAZING

I love their split pea soup!
I am pretty certain that I need to find out if there is a CPK located near me. I love that their pita is whole wheat, and that roasted vegetable salad looks amazing!!
