WIAW

Hello, hello and welcome to another WIAW post! We are now half way through the week (thank God) and I couldn’t be more happy about it. I have a few things on the agenda for this weekend and I am anxiously awaiting to get there. Thank you as always to Jenn for hosting this shin-dig. Let’s get into my ‘Tuesday’ eats!

My picture of breakfast was quite shitty, but it tasted really good! So instead of showing you, I’ll tell you! I had egg whites scrambled with a little bit of fat free cream cheese and smoked salmon. On the side I had three grape leaves — I generally always have my egg whites with spinach and soy cheese, so I really enjoyed switching it up a bit. I ate this around 8:00 AM and was full until almost 1:00 when it was lunch time!

On Sunday night, I decided to cook up some 99% fat free ground turkey and add some peppers and onions into the mix. To top it off, I added a sprinkle of soy cheese and some Trader Joes Greek Yogurt Guacamole. Whoever lives near a Trader Joes must try this guac! Amazeballs!

I had a meeting at 4:00 so by 5:00 I was a bit hungry and craving a snack. I hardly ever do this, but I went to one of the ‘fruit shake’ stands on the street and got a ‘smoothie’ which simply consisted of banana, strawberries, and orange all blended up with ice. It sucked.

Dinner, which I ate around 7:30, included a frozen Trader Joes meal and half of an avocado sprinkled with sea salt and paprika. I’m a big fan of Trader Joes frozen meals — especially the Indian ones — but this dish in particular (something along the lines of chicken and veggies) wasn’t so great. Eh, ya win some ya lose some!

So nothing too exciting, but all relatively healthy :)

Question of the Day: Are you a guacamole fan? I could eat it every day!

WIAW

Good morning, everyone, and happy What I Ate Wednesday! I’ve had a pretty good week of eats so I thank Jenn for letting us share our meals, sips, and snacks with you! Here’s what a day in the life of (some) of my eats has looked like:

Breakfast has been a lot of egg beaters with a slice of soy american cheese paired with a 45 cal low carb wrap which I eat with a little sunflower butter and fig jam. I usually have this around 8:15 and it leaves me full until 1:00.

egg beaters and wrap1

Then 1:00 comes and BOOM! time for lunch. I always like to have filling, non-heavy, super healthy lunches. So this Sunday night I decided to make a batch of ground turkey (99% fat free) with asapargus and edamame. Now I have this meal for a majority of my lunches throughout the week. It is a really delicious, simple, and clean meal. Love it.

Snacks have been coming in very handy — especially since I have been so busy lately — and thanks to Cascadian Farm who sent me an AMAZING package — I have been snacking on some delicious granola bars. I have also been snacking on pineapple, green juice, and almonds. All clean eating and all filling. Anyway, I can’t thank the people at Cascadian Farm enough, they’re truly awesome.

Dinner’s have been light salads or soup after a workout. I’ve been doing pretty well with workouts and on SOME day’s I have been enjoying ‘two-a-day’ workouts… about 35 minutes in the morning — mixed cardio and abs — and then in the evening I will take a class. Since I get out of the class around 8:00 and don’t have dinner ’til 8:30 or even 9:00, I’ll have something that looks similar to the below:

grape leaf salad1

And I always have something sweet after dinner! Whether it’s some cool whip with sunflower butter or something along those lines.

That’s about all I have for you on this fine Wednesday — tomorrow’s already Thursday, woo! Hope you make it a great one :)

Grahamfuls

Hi there! I have a really fun review for you all. The awesome people at Kraft sent me their new product, Grahamfuls, to try out — I was super excited to receive them, since I love a good snack ;)

Disclaimer: While Kraft sent me the below products, all thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

The first one I tried was the Chocolate and Peanutbutter:

I really liked this flavor – it tasted as good as it sounds. The combination of the chocolate, peanut butter, and graham cracker made me feel like I was eating a treat without the extra calories. The next flavor I tried was just Peanut Butter. While I missed the chocolate flavor, the peanut butter with the graham crackers by itself reminded me of the Nutter Butter’s I used to eat as a kid. I loved those!

Last up was the Banana Vanilla Creme:

I must admit, I was a little apprehensive to try this flavor at first. For some reason the ‘banana’ flavoring didn’t sound appealing to me, but I was totally wrong and it must be said that this may have actually been my favorite Grahamful of the whole bunch.

Thanks again, Kraft, for having me taste test these awesome snacks! I definitely enjoyed each Grahamful.

Question of the Night: What were some of your favorite snacks as a kid?

WIAW

It’s that time of the week again! What I Ate Wednesday! I’ve been taking pictures of random meals I’ve had so far this week. My ‘summer staples’ seem to be salads, vegetables, frozen yogurt, greek yogurt, and snacks! Thanks so much, Jenn, for throwing this party each and every week :)

I was sent this ‘Infuse Your Mood Tea’ by Sun Chlorella USA. It is caffeine-free, 100% natural, and claims to support your body against the every day stresses of living. It also states that the tea enhances inner calm and focus, supports physical endurance, and improves concentration and memory. I’ve been drinking a cup of this tea in the morning before I leave for work (and before I drink my coffee) and have really been enjoying it. The flavor isn’t too over-whelming and it actually feels kind of cleansing. I’ll be making this a morning tradition from now on!

Stay tuned for a review of these soon!

Hope you all had a great Wednesday :)

Porch Party

Happy Sunday to you all! How was your weekend? I can happily say that mine was amazing and my room mate Britt and I threw a fantastic party on our porch for a Summer kick off. The drinks were flowing, snacks being had, tons of laughs, and fantastic weather. I was even able to surprise Britt with birthday cupcakes since her birthday is on the 12th! I’m going to keep this post short and sweet and just show you the pictures I was able to get from last night:

I can’t wait for many more parties on the porch this Summer!

Question of the Night: What was the best part of your weekend?

WIAW

Morning, all! It’s Wednesday and that can only mean one thing — What I Ate Wednesday. Let’s get to my eats from yesterday. I had quite the hungry day, but think I did a pretty good job at balancing out protein, carbs, and treats. And as always, thank you Jenn!

Breakfast (9:15 AM) was a cup of Dannon Light ‘n Fit Caramel (80 cals) — limited edition flavor which is really good! I also mixed in some chopped strawberry, about a tbsp of oats, and about a tsp of chia seeds:

–>Insert Tall Non-fat Latte Here<–

I was pretty ready for lunch around 12:00 – which is earlier than usual for me. Generally speaking, I like to eat anywhere from 1:00-1:30. But I listened to my grumbling stomach and gave in:

For lunch I decided to make a salad that was topped with a veggie burger, peas, a cut up slice of 40 calorie bread, and some ginger. It was all topped with some Asian Sesame dressing which was light and delicious.

Around 4:00 it was snack time! So I had half a grapefruit and a cup of miso soup (un-pictured).

After work I ran a quick errand and by 7:30 I was ready for dinner.

3 egg whites mixed with Morning Star Grillers Recipe Crumbles (80 calories in 2/3 cup). I also had two slices of 40 calorie toast; one topped with low fat cream cheese and low sugar jelly and the other topped with peanut butter and some low sugar jelly.

Can’t wait to dig into this later tonight:

Love Sprinkles :)

Enjoy your Wednesday, everyone!

WIAW – I Was Hungry ALL DAY Addition

It’s that time, people! Another What I Ate Wednesday is officially here. Once you leave StephSnacks, make sure to check out Jenn’s blog — it’s bound to be a good time ;) Thanks so much, Jenn for hosting this every week! Let me also preface this WIAW by stating that I was having a particularly hungry day.. not so sure why, maybe it was because of my lack of sleep last night. Does that ever happen to you? When you don’t sleep well you’re more hungry the next day? Hmmm.. anywayyyyy let’s get to it!

Breakfast was particularly good! Tuesday night I prepped about 3/4 cup nonfat plain yogurt with some sugar free syrup, a scoop of chocolate protein powder, and 1 tbsp of chia seeds. This morning, I awoke to this:

A Mug Full of Deliciousness!

In my new favorite mug, which I received as part of a birthday gift from my friend Eva:

New York, Newwww Yorkkkk

I topped it all with this cereal from Trader Joes:

When I food shop, this cereal generally always makes it into my cart — with only 2g of sugar, I can’t really ask for more.

Before getting to work, I stopped at Starbucks for a coffee. Instead of the usual regular cup of coffee, I decided to get a treat–but keep it waist-line healthy ;) I ordered an iced grande skinny mocha:

Loved It

I ate my snack, half a grape fruit, around 11:30.

Picture repeated from yesterday's post

While my new found love for grape fruit is still pretty strong, it didn’t exactly fill me up, so I ate my lunch at 12:45. I had tofu over spinach with a piece of Laughing Cow Cheese, a sliced kiwi, and 2 tbsp of peach salsa.

6:00 was a snack of grapes, which went un-pictured! I had a few things to do after work, so I got home a bit late and wanted something quick since it was already 8:15. Yesterday I had mentioned that I had purchased some Trader Joes turkey burgers over the weekend and hadn’t tried them yet – well that all changed tonight, and I was definitely pleased! I had the burger swith a small spinach salad, a few Trader Joes pita crackers, and some hummus:

Now I’m off to relax for a bit and find a healthy dessert–possible a vita top! Have a great night :)

WIAW

Hey there! It’s that time of the week–What I Ate Wednesday! This is two weeks in a row; batting a thousand up in hurr ;) As always, thank you Jenn for throwing such a fabulous foodie partayyy. We lurrveee ya <3 Make sure you stop by Peas and Crayons after reading this!

Before gettin’ to the eats thang, I want to show you what I wore to work today!

Really sorry this picture is on the darker side. Here’s the rundown on the outfit:

Cardigan – Banana Republic
Blouse – Was my mom’s when she was younger! Love this thing :)
Leggings – Hue
Necklace – Banana Republic

Moving right alongggg… breakfast was pretty yummy (I ate it around 8:15)..

In the mix:
-A little less than a cup of 0% plain greek yogurt
-Strawberries
-About 1 tbsp of sugar free syrup
-1 tbsp of granola

Then around 10:45 I wanted a snack, so I was happy that there were some almonds near by…

At 1:00, it was lunch time!

My lunch included a salad filled with spinach, grilled chicken (I definitely didn’t put enough on), a cube of Laughing Cow Cheese, a few olives, and about a tbsp of Trader Joes Roasted Red Pepper and Artichoke tapenade.

After a meeting that lasted a couple hours, I needed a snack to fuel me for the workout that was taking place after work, so at 4:30 I had this:

Perfect amount of calories for a snack and perfectly filling–just check out the stats!

Once the work day was over, I reluctantly made my way to the gym. I always have a gym bag packed with me so I have no excuse not to go–which is especially good for my ‘go to the gym no less than 5 day a week’ resolution for 2012. However, today, I just wasn’t feelin it. But, lo and behold, I busted out 35 minutes on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the elliptical, and also completed some ab work. Winning! (I had to).

I was so hungry when I left the gym, but didn’t have a dinner set in my mind. So, yes, dinner was incredibly random:

The most random dinner included: 1 egg topped with Trader Joes Roasted Red Pepper and Artichoke tapenade, about 1 ounce of chicken topped with some roasted red pepper hummus, sauteed spinach, and–because I was really craving it–a scoop of Weight Watchers Cream Cheese with a bit of syrup. Delish!

Now I’m eating a cup of low fat ice cream. Very necessary.

I’m going to sign off with a Julia Child quote that I love:

“Find something you’re passionate about and stay tremendously interested in it”.

Well said, Julia! Night, all :)

Full Bar Review

Hey friends, how was your day? I have a foodie review for you tonight, thanks to the awesome peeps at Full Bar! A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Full Bar to see if I’d be interested in reviewing some of their Full Bar flavors. Sign me up!

Full Bar is primarily a bar that is supposed to be eaten 30 minutes before lunch or dinner with a 16 oz. glass of water. An ingredient, called Slendesta, is meant to make you feel more ‘full’, hence triggering weight-loss. FYI–Slendesta is a potato extract. I’m not someone who really likes to ‘diet’ based off of bars, shakes, and unknown ingredients, so I basically just ate the bars when I was in need of a snack.

All of the flavors sounded yummy, so I was more than happy to dig in.

Peanut Butter Crunch

The peanut butter bar was very good for a ‘snack’ bar. There was no weird after taste and it wasn’t too filling but kept me satisfied for an hour or two before lunch.

Chocolate Peanut Butter

Again, I enjoyed this flavor, too!

Cocoa Chip

Cocoa Chip was definitely my favorite of all three bars. It cured my sweet tooth while keeping me full. Score!

**Please note that even though Full Bar sent me the products above, all thoughts and opinions of the bars are my own**

Question of the Night: Have you ever tried Full Bar? Do you ever use diet bars as a snack between meals?

WIAW

I can’t believe we are halfway through the week! Last week seemed to crawl and this one is zooming by–not that I’m complaining that we are getting closer and closer to the weekend. Well it’s definitely Wednesday and that definitely can only stand for one thing; ‘What I Ate Wednesday’! Thanks, to the lovely Jenn, for hosting this fabby partayy.

While eating breakfast this morning, I had my cup of Starbucks coffee, but I chose to get it iced. Yesterday, I couldn’t help by go for a hot cup of coffee once I saw that the official holiday cups are out!

Such A Cute Quote :)

I’m sure plenty of you also get excited when you see these little red babies, too ;)

Breakfast (around 9:30) was delicious and satisfying:

In the Mix:
-About 3/4 cup 0% plain greek yogurt
-About 1/3 cup pure pumpkin
-1 heaping tbsp of Trader Joe Pumpkin Butter (will change your life)
-2 heaping tbsp of Trader Joes Pumpkin Granola (will also change your life)
-1/2 tbsp sunflower butter on top

Around 12:30 I wanted a snack and decided to munch on my raw peppers with a heaping tbsp of Trader Joes Avocado Hummus:

I can’t lie, I’m not really a fan of this hummus.. it’s kind of bland. Mehh…

Lunch was on the lighter side–I decided to get a few yummy things from a place across the street from where I work.

My lunch consisted of a little bit of greek salad, some raw broccoli, and a few grilled veggies. I also had a majorly big green apple on the side.

Dessert came in the form of eyes…

Candy Eyes! (Chocolate to be Exact, duh).

And now I’m just about to get ready for dodgeball! Catch ya’ lataaaa…Happy What I Ate Wednesday!

Question of the Night: What is your absolute favorite breakfast to have??
